An LOR from an attorney with a public reprimand...

Does anyone have any idea if admissions officers check whether recommending attorneys have a public reprimand in their history of practicing law? And if so, would this negatively affect me? Thanks.

I think you would be lucky if they even read your LOR.

This is a terrible misconception. Of course they look at LORs. The fact that LORs do not "help" doesn't mean they don't get looked at, and a particularly bad LOR can torpedo an otherwise qualified candidate. That's true at least in the traditional sense, of an LOR that pans an applicant or damns them with faint praise. I don't, however, know how deeply they look at the writer.
Are we talking public like it's on file with the state bar association, or public like it's Gov. Blagojevich?
