Low 170s sounds about right. But personally, I tried to get the best score possible (which, I suppose, everyone tries to do) and worried about targets after that. It's good to have a dream school, but I felt like I coped with the 'pressure' of the LSAT better by taking things one step at a time. For all you know, you could be capable of getting a 175+ with a shot at HYS.

173 should give you a great shot at NYU.
175 should have you golden at Columbia.
Especially if you apply by Dec 1.
That high up the rankings, nothing is a "lock" but below 170, your odds slip below 50% of getting in unless you have something spectacular or ED.

172 puts you at median for both Columbia and NYU. So i'd go with that.

+1. A 172 gives a strong chance at both, barring any app weaknesses.

What about Stanford and Berkeley ?I am particularly interested in going to law school on the West coast.

Hard to say for Stanford, they are selective and value softs, etc. I'd say 170+, but this is more like meeting the prerequisite for Stanford acceptance, rather than a sufficient condition. For Berkeley, i'd say 167+ and you're in good shape.
