Been scoring 165-174 on untimed practice tests. Took my first timed diagnostic today with Testmasters and scored a diasterous 150. WTF?

What do you expect? I'm sure most people can score 170+ untimed.

Panicking and running out of time are not the same thing. Are you sure it's not that you simply ran out of time?

Basically, you need to start taking ONLY timed practice tests.

if you're prone to panic, use an audible 5 minute warning on PTs.

I can promise you that any pressure you feel from taking timed tests now will be multiplied exponentially on the actual test day. If you're concerned you should practice some stress reduction techniques for the day of (both before and during the test).

The anxiety I felt during the June test significantly affected my performance.

what about 'drills' like testmaters drills where they basically give you 100 of each type of question? is that worthwhile?

how do you know if you are panicking?

Definition of Panic: "an overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety"

You would know because, well, it would overwhelm you.

If you are good at games, and on test day you totally bomb games, you panicked.

If Friday's dinner ends up on the RC section of your test booklet, you panicked.

I don't really get the point of doing untimed practice tests, it is probably more helpful just to work on individual problems and look over the explanations RIGHT after you do them, rather than waiting until the end of some long test.
