I thought applying early in the cycle meant applying by 11/1

But, I am now seeing on this board that many have already applied (as soon as the apps became available on 9/1). I am a college senior and thought I would be doing just fine if I applied by Thanksgiving. I still need to take the Oct. LSAT.
But, now I'm not so sure. Should I apply next year on 9/1 when I will have my LSAT score and everything ready to go?
Is it too late to apply by Thanksgiving to be able to have my best shot at a T-14 school.
My stats:
Ivy League LSAC GPA 3.87
LSAT? (anticipating a 164)
I am Hispanic (not Puerto Rican or Mexian) with a chronic illness and a great diversity statement.
Should I wait till 2011 to apply when I can have everything on the adcom's lap by 9/2?

I'm pretty sure you can send your app in before you get your LSAT score. Then LSAC sends off your lsat score. check with LSAC though.

Nope, 11/1 is fine. Good luck on the LSAT.

I applied to schools in February and got in everywhere my numbers said I would. I wouldn't recommend that approach, but it's not the end of the world if you don't have everything in by September 1.

Just prepare your other app materials beforehand and you'll be fine.

From what I've gathered, anything before Thanksgiving is early. Before November is definitely going to have a very slight advantage, but I wouldn't delay anything by a year because of it... 11/1 is fine, just have all your materials in as soon as possible and then wait for LSAT to go complete. Good luck!

You probably thought a 168 was a good LSAT score.

+1

My parents didn't understand why I was freaking out. During my boyfriend's 5 month "I don't want to be in business, I'll be a lawyer!" stint, he retook his 171 because he was T5 or bust (not T6, he wouldn't listen to me). He would've lurved it here.

Im a 1L who had all my applications in by thanksgiving weekend and that was considered early but recommended. I started getting acceptance letters right around christmas and through feb. You'll be fine sending everything in by then. Good luck!

Credited. 11/1 is plenty early. A lot of us are just insane.

...Which is why we're hanging out on an online law school forum at midnight on a Saturday.

+1. Sigh.

(In my defense, I just got back from a family get-together...)

11/1 should be fine, but don't wait too much later than that. My cycle (among others) is a cautionary tale for those who would wait till January to apply. Make no mistake; at least some people are turning their apps in on the first day, and more and more people pile up in front of you with each day. Early applicants have the best chance to get into a school that's a little out of their league.
