Northwestern ED: Who pays for on-campus interview?

The application says that if you're applying ED, you HAVE to interview on campus. Who pays for this? It would be unfair to force students to fly to Chicago just to interview.

I was under the impression that you could interview with someone in your area.

You are not "forced" to fly to Chicago. You voluntary enter into the ED contract. If you cant or dont want to travel to Chicago to interview on-campus then don't ED.
