Venture capitalists.sanetruth wrote:I have a sneaking suspicion that admissionsdean.com is run by adcomms. I mean, we already know they troll TLS and LSN, so it seems to make sense that they'd want to set up their own LSN-type site to gather informal data about where applicants with certain numbers are applying. Such statistics probably are weighed into yield-protection decisions and such.
Also, think about it, admissionsdean.com is a legitimate, well run, nice looking site. Not to mention it has interviews and links up to LSAC. Who else would have the means and connections to put together something like that?
I would be wary, if I were you.
For what purpose?sanetruth wrote:All they had to do was pay someone to set it up, and then wait for people to flock to it. I think, to them, the investment would be worth it.lifestooquick wrote:Right....because adcomms have the time/resources/desire to actually run a website like that.
Why? What exactly do you think they are gleaning from such a site that they aren't already getting? I guess what schools you're applying to, etc but most of the other information is provided by applicants anyway.sanetruth wrote:All they had to do was pay someone to set it up, and then wait for people to flock to it. "Such statistics probably are weighed into yield-protection decisions and such." OP's statement. A premise if you will to support his conclusion that admissions committees are behind this website.bk187 wrote:For what purpose?sanetruth wrote:All they had to do was pay someone to set it up, and then wait for people to flock to it. Holy fuck that is even more stupid than not stating a reason. AdComms clearly haven't been doing this shit for decades, or learned from predecessors who have, and thus have no idea what kind of applicants turn down their offers to go to other schools.gdane5 wrote:"Such statistics probably are weighed into yield-protection decisions and such." I think I saw something about this in a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio...TommyK wrote:I think this is what psychologists call "projection"
Your application matters a lot to you, so you assume that it's the most important thing to everybody else. I would be simply shocked if adcomms had the desire and capacity to cast their net so wide that after hours and hours, they may glean some slightly useful information about a handful of candidates.
Enough of the cloak and dagger stuff

That is exactly what they want you to think, my friend.....lifestooquick wrote:Right....because adcomms have the time/resources/desire to actually run a website like that.

What's that? You have a list of 57 names?Bumi wrote:I have here in my hand a list of 205—a list of names that were made known to Ken DeLeon as being members of the Top-Law-Schools community and who nevertheless are still working and shaping policy in the Admissions Departments of the T14.
