3.90 LSAC GPA BUT Could It Be Tarnished?

Long time lurker and needing some advice. I recently graduated from Cal-Berkeley with a degree in Ethnic Studies and will be applying this cycle. (I am also a URM-African American Female)

My degree GPA is a 3.87 (with 138 Semester Units) and my LSAC Cumulative GPA is exactly a 3.90 (with 142 Semester Units). I took the June 2010 LSAT and scored 172 after retaking a 168 in February.

I am wondering how particular “blemishes” on my transcripts may affect how my GPA is viewed in the admissions process.

1. On my transcripts I have 2 Drops. One from my senior year and one from freshmen year.

2. I took 4 incomplete grades my senior year. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and just couldn’t tackle school 100% during my fall senior semester (2009). The proceeding semester, spring 2010, I made up my four incomplete grades and got 3 A’s and 1 A-, along with taking five other classes and getting all A's in those classes.

At the end of the day, do they care how I got my 3.90 LSAC GPA? Am I worrying too much? Should I add an addendum at least with the four incomplete grades.

You are worrying too much. Add an addendum. You'll probably get into everywhere you apply.

Congrats! As others indicated I think you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the responses. I also felt this way but hopefully I can get some insights as well before I rest completely easy.

No need to worry. I graduated from Cal last year (go bears!) and had some made-up incompletes and a few passes on my transcript -- I was not adversely affected as a result. A quick addendum explaining the MS will do the trick.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor while at HYS!
