A truly "holistic" school gives significant weight to "soft factors", rather than just giving breaks to splitters. The only top-30 schools that fall into that category are UVA, NU, UIUC, WUSTL, OH-St., WI, and IA.

Holy shit dude wtf no.
UVA, NU, WUSTL, UIUC??? you just named a bunch of the least holistic schools. I couldn't come up with a worse list if I tried.

I think UT and USC in the past admitted people with very low numbers. Also, I remembered seeing somewhere on TLS that Vandy is pretty holistic too, can anyone attest to this?kazu wrote:D. Michigan and Berkeley are the most holistic of the T15. And that is not debatable.

Why do you say that? Have those schools perceivably ignored your softs? Or did they ignore your split?D. They are holistic schools. NU gives the most weight to W.E., which is the biggest soft one can have. Ohio State is going in that direction, as are the others. Check out WUSTL...more and more people with significant W.E. and/or community service. Plus, that's been my experience from watching friends with great softs but unspactacular numbers get in. Who really knows the answer. And those schools are splitter friendly as well. And Vandy is one of the more holistic as well.

Requiring a September application and seventeen essays on why you love their school =/= holistic.artichoke88 wrote:Michigan and Berkeley are the most holistic of the T15. And that is not debatable.

Michigan doesn't seem very holistic.
Boalt, arguably the most holistic, still only takes a handful of people who are under both of their medians medians.
