Anybody know if I can scan the form with my signature and then email it to my recommenders, or do I have to mail it to them with an original ink signature? Anyone with experience on this, please chime in. Thanks.

I signed mine and then scanned it in, turned it into a PDF, and emailed it, and everything was okay.

You don't need to sign the form. Heck, you can read the LOR and then sign the form as if you didn't, but if you want the school to know that you haven't read it then you should sign it.

i thought signing the form was just about your right to read it after (if) you are admitted.

Signing the form means you've signed away your right to read it.

right. signed away my right to read it AFTER admission to the school.

I don't have any of those forms on me right now, but I thought it meant that you've signed awaythe right to read it at all at any point.

The purpose for which this confidential statement is being obtained is admission to a Credential Assembly Service-participating law school. It will be received and maintained in confidence. If you are admitted and enroll – and if your law school retains letters of recommendation once the admission process is concluded – you may inspect this letter at that school unless you have voluntarily waived this right by signing the following statement:

Technically, the LOR writer's supposed to send the letter, fax, mail, whatever. But if for some reason they give it to you, then yeah, you can read it. The signing bit only means that LSAC and whatever schools you apply to aren't allowed to show you the letter. The actual writer can still show you if he wants to.

If your recommender lets you read it...you're fine. I signed, scanned/emailed to my writers and then they mailed in. But they all sent me copies electronically anyhow.
