Thread created out of utter boredom... But the 2010-2011 cycle officially kicks off August 1st with Baylor, Bama, and Ole Miss accepting applications. Hows everyone feeling about this? Hows preparation going??
I have a document of bullet points to hit in my PS and DS and a topic for my PS but I just cant bring myself to write it. I also need to try and write a LSAT retake addendum at some point.

The fact that I haven't written the LSAT is where I am right now. I am finding it difficult to stay motivated studying. This whole thing is taking over my life.

Ehh the LSAT is a terrible beast.. but its all about pattern recognition. Focus more on the structure of the questions rather than the specific info in the questions.

It's weird that I've gotten so excited about this. Studying for LSAT non-stop and writing PS, DS, WHY X SCHOOL? Essays, meeting with recommenders, visiting schools, it's crazy. Very excited to actually send the applications in.

I don't think any schools yo which I'm applying start accepting applications until September, but this certainly is a good motivation to get my butt in gear.

Wow... when you put it that way it is sorta terrifying
I have pretty much everything in (transcripts, LORs, LSAT etc.) Just waiting on 1 LOR. I also need to buckle down and do some serious writing on my PS & decide once and for all whether or not to write a DS. Definitely have an avoidance thing going on.... I was going to give myself a little "break" after taking the June LSAT but I think too much time has passed by now

I need to get my bloody LORs taken care of. How long do snail mailed letters take once sent to LSAC?
I almost feel like applying to one of the August application schools for the practice.

Letters sent by snail mail take a couple of weeks from time mailed to time actually available on LSAC to be sent with applications. Try to get your LOR writers to fax them. If it's faxed then it can be processed the same day.
I am still waiting on all of my LORs, but all of my LOR writers are on top of the game and have told me they'll definitely have them in by the time classes start in a few weeks, which should be plenty of time (and they're all very reliable/dependable people, so I'm not too worried). Now I just need a good PS.

I'll ask but I don't trust one of my LOR writers with a fax machine.

Frighteningly, for those who are looking to familiarize themselves, Baylor's is open now. No app fee, either. Made my stomach churn a bit.

Yea, if your upbringing doesnt match what people stereotypically think of white people. For instance, imagine being white and growing up in an all black section of Memphis, TN and graduating the only white guy in your HS class. Thats going to have an effect on what you bring to the class in terms of your thinking and your experiences. Or, imagine being brought up in a military family and living in 7 different countries in 18 yrs. Stuff like that.

If you're gay, a vet, or maybe some other special circumstance?
