how much does being a legacy help? I ask because I have legacy at Columbia.

Only if the legacy is from one's third cousin or closer. Fourth cousins are right out.

Sorry, but your original post doesn't allow for a very clear answer. Legacy status is another soft factor, and will undoubtedly help an applicant. However, different schools weigh legacy status differently. Also, one can infer that an applicant with a parent who donates a lot of money to the law school directly/has a building named after him or her/etc. will receive a larger boost than an applicant who had a parent who attended the same university (not the law school) and doesn't donate at all.

legacy at columbia UG or legacy at columbia LS. also, what relation are you to this legacy. also, not much.

While we're talking about it ... double legacy (both parents, Columbia UG and Columbia LS) ... any boost?
