How does this affect ur admissions? Aren't there probably a lot of 22-25 who are unemployed no matter where u want to school(or working part-time or in shitty jobs)? Is it different for this economy?

If you're unemployed, volunteer somewhere. It'll probably help more than employment.

It shouldnt matter at all. Many law school applicants have never even held a job. If there was ever a problem with it, theres none now. The high level of unemployment makes it seem like less of a "red flag". If youre unemployed, dont worry too much about it. Just do well on the LSAT if youre taking it soon and try to graduate with a good GPA if you havent already done so.

I don't know. I think that being unemployed won't help your application.

why would u think he's trying to claim that? it's much more likely that he's just using 22-25 year olds as the set of recently to relevantly recently graduated persons who, bc of the economic nosedive of the last two years, may be now unemployed. this set of people is also the set of people who predominate the law school applicant set.

In and of itself being unemployed isn't a concern. However, doing nothing so to speak might raise some red flags. Like if there's a large gap in your resume you want to be able to put something down besides "Went Kerouac on everybody's ass". If you aren't working what are you doing? Looking for a job full time? Volunteering? Smoking pot and playing Madden? Just make sure you have something plausible to put on your resume.

um, dude, have you noticed what's been going on? just put what u were volunteering for, if u were. nothing would be worse, but they'll assume u were desperately looking for a job and getting nothing. no need to draw attention to it.

It seems like in Ann Ivey's book that she says you should explain any periods of unemployment. But I would agree with above posters who say its far more common now and not as big of a red flag.
