LOR's from lawyers

I know LOR's from famous people don't mean much if they don't know you well. But what's better -- 1) an employer (at an internship) who knows you well and will write how great a person/intern you are in general, or 2) a lawyer in the same company who you don't work directly under but who you've talked to a few times in depth about wanting to go to law school and can comment on the great work you've done at the company from an outside perspective despite not supervising you?
I'm thinking the employer is better...but the lawyer is an alumni at a school I want to go to and I'm thinking that would help. I dont think I should use both since they overlap too much, unless that doesn't matter.
Thanks.
