I dont think Law Schools care about PS or LOR

After reflection of my application and my "soft" strengths, I have come to the conclusion that Law schools do not care very much about PS or LORs. I noticed that my PS had a spelling error and a few very awkward sentences. I never had great relationships with professors, so I assume my recs were way below average (not the "front of the class" student type and did not really engage in class discussions). One of my professors who wrote my recommendation did not remember my name when I went to his OHs. I also did not have any extra curricular activities (was president of my fraternity but that is pretty much it)
My numbers were around a 169 and about a 3.8. I got into Gtown, UVA, Duke and Cornell. I went to a cheap state UG school (not a top one though)
Does anyone else believe that PS does not matter that much? If it did, I probably should have been rejected.

Obviously softs are pretty inconsequential.
I think the point of the post is that even small typos and mediocre PS's/LOR's won't always hurt your chances. But it is pretty easy to get your PS edited and make it half-decent so no reason not to. And LOR's... well nothing you can really do there, though I am fairly sure that most applicants have only average LOR's.

I think the point about softs isn't that they are totally inconsequential (I think they are consequential especially at HYSCCN), but that unless they are very bad they probably won't dictate your cycle. But they might dictate one school, especially if you are a reach. Or they might impact a scholarship offer. I was offered a full scholly b/c of my PS and LORs.

I was offered a pretty sick scholarship to Duke too, which they even allowed me to defer because they admitted way too many people this year. The point is, I had nothing remotely impressive on my application except my numbers. It just seems that it may make a difference if you are within the medium.
Otherwise, I feel that you could have a shitty application but if you have the numbers, you can still get into a t14.

The scholarship I was offered was specifically because of my PS/LOR. When they called and told me about the scholarship they told me this as well. A lot of schools give applicants in a certain numerical range a specific scholarship once they are admitted. It doesn't mean that having a great PS wouldn't give you the possibility of more $$$

I had a better LSAT (170) and 3.8 and I didnt get scholly at Duke or get into UVA/Cornell (WL at both). I guess my PS was even worse than yours...though I'm pretty sure that my LOR's were pretty sick.

Yea I did, I had to wait for the October LSAT to come, so I sent my application in late December. I guess that makes a pretty big difference..
