Top Law Schools

Quick question. Has anyone tried writing to a school essentially asking to apply ED next cycle. I've seen a few posters who have been asked to defer off the waitlist for the class of 2014 by applying ED this fall. Im on a few waitlists right now but in wondering if I should bother doing this as it is much different than being asked by the school. Thoughts?

I've called a few and asked about doing this. They basically say there are no promises but it will improve your chances if you don't make it this year.
Duke just encouraged all of their waitlistees to do this.
