Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
Requested a fee waiver from Emory a few weeks ago and was denied, but I received one via email today!
Other recent waivers:
Loyola - Los Angeles (email)
Pepperdine (email, requested)
Tennessee (email, requested)
Depending on my December LSAT, I may not use any of the latter three.

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
Emory tortures me. They are the only school that has has denied me a waiver (aside from schools that don't give them out, like GW and BC). I don't know why I care so much. I'm not going there under any circumstances (no offense to Atlanta but it's far from where I want to live and work) but I guess I just don't like to be shunned so early in the process. I want them to read my application, then reject me.

From their website:SO2010 wrote:I didn't have CRS enabled until last week and I was hoping to obtain a fee waiver from mercer. I looked around their website forever and could not find anywhere to email a fee waiver request. Has anyone has any luck in this area? Thanks in advance.
I would say you could go ahead and email both or either of those addresses if you want to enquire about fee waviers. Good luck! For general questions regarding the Application Process or Admissions, please contact Susan Martin, martin_sv@law.mercer.edu, 478-301-2605, in the Admissions Office. For all other Admissions-related questions, please contact the Assistant Dean of Admissions, Marilyn Sutton, sutton_me@law.mercer.edu, 478-301-2429.

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
I thought this was kinda funny from McGeorge
"MyName,
You're one of a handful of people whom we're inviting to apply to Pacific McGeorge Law School. Congratulations on making our short list! And since I see your talent and consider getting to know you a priority, I've included some special advantages when you apply for admission:
Your application fee has been waived ... a savings of $50.
Scholarship consideration when you apply.
Priority review of your application."
A handfull? I seriously doubt they used CRS and selected a "handful" of people to send the email to, unless they were reffering to god's hand or some ridiculously huge hand.

Bwahaha, yes... a hidden fee waiver from Columbia.
But... is it even worth the $12 to apply with my 3.0/175?

they would have rejected your request even if you had a 180. they just like to do it through CRS.omninode wrote:Emory tortures me. Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
I have a very specific question if anyone could possibly help!
I was just invited to join Teach For America (and I confirmed!), but I'd like to send out all of my applications this year. A few schools (Berkeley, Chicago, Oregon) offer application fee waivers to TFA corps members. Should I ask for fee waivers or would that reflect poorly on me since I am applying with the intention of deferring acceptance for two years? Any input would be appreciated because I am trying to limit my application fees as much as possible!

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
I don't think it is ok for you to ask them for TFA waivers before you even do your summer training session with TFA. Also, I would encourage you to apply in a year. Having the TFA experience on your resume/using it to write a PS etc might help your app and get you into better/more schools. Also a few schools won't just allow you to defer automatically (they will evaluate your request to defer). And especially two years is uncommon.environmentallaw wrote:I have a very specific question if anyone could possibly help!
