William and Mary-160! This is one of my reach schools so I couldn't be more thrilled. Also my first fee waiver for a school I was actually planning on applying to.

Woke up this morning and was pleasantly surprised to see a fee waiver. Same here, I don't think I'd mind going to W&M.lharsha wrote:William and Mary-160! This is one of my reach schools so I couldn't be more thrilled. Also my first fee waiver for a school I was actually planning on applying to.

I just signed up for the CRS about a week ago. Would the schools that have already sent out fee waivers, send another round out at some point?

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
Hmm, would've thought maybe I'd get a GULC waiver 171 LSAT/3.67 LSDAS GPA, though my transcript and academic summary report was just processed today - could it be that they will send out the "invitation to apply" now that my academic summary report is done? Did those who got a waiver already have theirs done?thescuba wrote:I just signed up for the CRS about a week ago. I still haven't signed up for CRS but I've gotten some fee waivers. Am I really behind? It seems early to sign up. Would I be getting more if I signed up and sent in my transcripts?

Maybe the CRS has nothing to do with it. I just thought I read that somewhere on here before. I just got one from W&M today, so that's why I was asking.lharsha wrote:I still haven't signed up for CRS but I've gotten some fee waivers. Am I really behind? It seems early to sign up. Candidate Referral Service is the thing you sign up for when you make your profile/LSAC account. Credential Assembly Service is that thing you pay for(putting your transcripts together).lharsha wrote:eandy wrote:CRS has something to do with it. William and Mary - 170
This is one of those schools (like Minnesota) that I was on the border of applying to, so I'll definitely send an app now.

Just FYI, W&M sends tons of fee waivers. They also give one to basically anyone who asks.
Skimming this thread I feel the need to remind you guys that getting a fee waiver doesn't mean anything about your chances at getting in.

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
Haven't received a fee waiver since I received the "informative" email from UMINN.
However, i don't think I have a shot at getting in there.
I've been getting a lot of flyers in the mail for schools that (based on the LS Predictor) seem out of my reach.
Also, anyone have thoughts on these schools that accept in Fall AND in Spring? Is there any disadvantage to starting in the Spring?

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
Few things. One, it could make a difference in deciding where to apply for a lot of people, particularly below the t20 or so. Two, I know the accepted understanding is that fee waivers do not impact chance of admission, but are there any hard numbers to back that up? I'd imagine this would be something that would be fairly school-specific and hard to generalize. Just as an example, maybe School 1 uses fee waivers to drive up their applicant pool knowing that they won't accept most of those they send waivers to, whereas School 2 uses fee waivers to target people in their range who might not otherwise apply, and School 3 uses school waivers to long-shot entice people who are way over their median but might come if thrown enough money (and hence improve those critical USNWR rankings). Three, we've taken our LSAT and gotten our scores and we won't be able to talk about accepts/rejects for months. We need this, man.eandy wrote:Just FYI, W&M sends tons of fee waivers. I got the fee waiver from W&M this morning too!
Has anybody who send fee waiver requests to schools had any luck? I'm thinking about sending one to Georgetown after I go visit in a few weeks

Just got another email from WM with "Computer Science & Engineering" as the subject (I'm an engineering major). Not really sure how the Center for Legal and Court Technology specifically applies to me, but whatever; it's a nice touch.

Re: Application Fee Waivers - Fall 2011 Applicants
I just got one for poli sci majors. They are blanketing by major, obv.
But it was nice to get this fee waiver. I will def apply now.
Eandy is right: schools give out fee waivers to those below their LSAT median so that they can improve their own ranking (schools who have more applicants can then reject more applicants and seem more exclusive)... so be wary.
