URMs. Does it really help boost an application?

I've been reading a lot of posts lately where people have been discussing URMs (under represented minorities) and I've seen mixed opinions on how much it changes an application. I've also seen some people say that Asian is an extremely over-represented minority. So I thought a thread and a more guided discussion might be enlightening!
So, what are your thoughts???
Does being a URM really increase the overall appeal of an application?
If so, how much?
Is Asian still a URM?
Which URM is the most appealing for a law school to admit?
Does being a woman AND a URM make you more of a minority? What about being an impoverished URM vs an affluent one?
Feel free to add your own experiences and stories to the mix! I can't wait to see what everyone has to say!
