The benefits of ED

I have a 3.7 and a 170 on the LSAT (1st time I got a 166). After looking at a wealth of data on T14 schools I see I hit the median on roughly both criteria, save the top 4-5, and was curious as to what early decision will do for me. On the law school predictor program it put me at 39% at Columbia, would ED increase my chances or is it best to not even apply? I'm also curious to ED with Michigan, NYU, UT, and VA.
Thank you for any insight or help you can offer.

I wouldn't ED any target schools unless it's your absolute top choice, and you would gladly pay sticker to attend even if other schools gave you money. On the other hand, it's a reasonable option for your dream (reach) school.

Don't ED to Mich, UVa or UT. They might give you scholarships, and ED kills that.

i'd ED CLS if you know you'll be happy attending there. They don't give that much of a boost, but any bit helps

In addition, in the event of a retake..If I'm not absolutely sure i got a 172+ should I cancel? I have been able to predict both of my actual lsat scores within 2 points. If I had to cancel, would it hurt my 170?

Really? I can understand how it's a joke. But isn't it a not so funny one/that's kinda really odd/random?

Moar the fact that you immediately pounced on it with a sanctimonious burst of PC looser.
