These crazy curves are retarded and unfair to those of us that actually had hard curves. The LSAT I took, Oct. of 08 I believe, was pretty difficult and had like a -8 or -9 I believe, then not much later there was this monster like record setting curve. I remember back when I was prepping that you could never tell which ones were going to be curved harsher or more lenient based on the "difficulty." Cheap guys, cheap. :)

The percentiles associated with each scaled score remain roughly the same from administration to administration because the curve accounts for differences in difficulty as measured by test-taker performance. So, a test with a -8 curve is as easy to get a 170 on as a test with a -14 curve, at least in terms of how many people get each score.

cancel and take two more times or keep score and take two more times. You have time to keep studying and getting your ducks in a row. If you feel you can do much better than 162-166 cancel and hope you kill it the next time if not, retest.

If you like gambling keep the score. Only you can gauge how you "feel" you truly performed on the 7th. You have time to get it together. Insurance of having a decent score can help also. Never know what will happen in your life between now and next test, let alone the day of the exam.

You have to decide for yourself.

I cannot answer your question about Univ. of Virginia, but I do think that it is quite difficult to predict LSAT scores. My opinion is that you should not cancel since you may have done better than you guesstimate and, if not, you have a very substantial & substantiated reason for not scoring as expected. In short, you can't lose but you might win.

Hypothetically, let's say I keep my score and I get a 163

For T14 schools like UVa, would a canceled score combined with a 169 retest have given me a better shot than a 163 and a 169 retest??

OP, T14 schools have different policies on how they treat multiple LSATs. Take a look at this page:
