Chances for T14?

I'd like to poll some collective wisdom before I jump off the deep end.

Do I even have a chance at a top 14?

Age: 34
GPA 2.8
LSAT 179
10 years of progressive corporate work experience from a dept manager at a small company to lead product producer at Proctor and Gamble.

I've had this 10 year dream of going to law school but I worry I would be gambling on a lower tier school.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Northwestern. Not that you shouldn't try at a few others.

I can almost promise you in at Northwestern if you apply early decision. There really isn't any downside unless you would consider a half ride to wustl, illinois or minnesota.

^This

You're age/business oriented mind/LSAT-GPA split, make you perfect for NU. ED and have fun!

So.... ED to Northwestern is pretty much the central point of this thread. (Family Guy)

Unless he wants DC, in which case GULC PT would take him.

Your high LSAT and WE will definitely get you in at Northwestern. While your low GPA will get you rejects from a lot of other T14s, I still think you'll get into several others in that bracket with a good PS and GPA addendum.

Interesting.. Never a school I would have considered - and I don't even know why.
So, is that all I have a chance for? Don't take that as a complaint, but a backup would be nice.

I wouldn't say "definitely." This guy had significant post grad experience and didn't make the cut. http://lawschoolnumbers.com/rikkif/jd

In fact the only two people who got into NU on LSN, who had below 3.0 gpa, were me and NayBoer, and we applied ED.

In the past people like the OP would be WL'd then accepted over the summer. But this year the waitlists didn't move. Who knows about next year. I think the OP should ED. There isn't much to lose, but a lot to gain.

No, I'd say you start knocking on the door around Michigan, UVA, Penn.

You start becoming a shoe-in around USC.

Ok shot at Georgetown part time.
Tiny shot at Penn if you went to an Ivy league school.
Small shot at Cornell, but this year you wouldn't have gotten in.

UG prestige is irrelevant. Definitely apply ED to Northwestern.

Yeah I'm a white guy too.

Thanks guys! It actually looks like a decent school with above average job prospects upon graduation!

Oh yeah it's a good school, even part of the T12 that gets jokingly thrown around TLS, they just happen to be more friendly to substituting work experience for GPA than the rest of the T14.

Apply to every law school that interests you. The recommended websites--lawschoolpredictor & lawschoolnumbers--do not account for significant work experience and maturation after undergraduate school. If you plan to apply early decision, then Northwestern University might be your best option. But a 179 LSAT score will generate a lot of positive attention at every law school.

Since schools also tend not to, they are still fairly valid, but not great with splitters

I don't agree that some top law schools will not consider the OP's work experience & time out of undergraduate school. But, assuming that the above poster is correct, I will offer you classic TLS advice: retake the LSAT, study your heart out & get that 180.
