Boston and NYC are saturated markets, so I don't think UCONN will do particularly well there. It's possible but not probable.

UCONN is a fantastic bargain of school, a very good program wrapped in an affordable package. You should be good in CT with a degree from there.

My visit didn't impress me but that was for more personal reasons, not because UCONN is a bad school.

we are talking in four years though - do you think the market in those two cities will remain the same?

I'm not talking about getting a BIGFIRM JOB... I meant, does UCONN get decent employment stats in those cities regardless of the firm size.... I think, just knowing me, I would do better in a medium to smaller size firm anyway

You're competing with Columbia, NYU, BC, BU, Fordham, Cardozo...and that's just off the top of my head. Plus, NYC (and I'd imagine Boston to a large degree) are the top picks for a lot of T14 people.

Finding a job will be tough no matter the economy.

No. I have zero experience with Cardozo. No desire whatsoever to go to NYC.

But, outside the top few schools, going to school in the area you want to work in is the best option. You have more opportunities that way. If I wanted to work in Seattle, I wouldn't go to SMU.

What Kalvano said. Uconn is strong in Connecticut, but New York and Boston are very difficult markets to crack, even in better economic times. What would make of working in Ct.?

I will live in NYC probably and do the reverse commute...

I am young, but living in CT later in life is great - though I am a SOX fan...

Christ man, just go somewhere in NYC. It will serve you better anyway.


Edit - I'll save you some trouble. It seems pretty obvious that you're going to argue for UCONN no matter what anyone says. No one here is going to advocate UCONN for NYC / Boston placement unless they have the reasoning skills of a retarded lemur.

If you go to UCONN, plan on staying / working in CT for a while.

come back and ask that question in four years then. UConn did not impress me either when I visited. I was quite disappointed. You can get in-state the second and third year, which is nice, but their OOS tuition the first year is redonkulous.

I sat in on a class that was incredibly boring. I dont understand why they didnt put me in a class with one of their more engaging teachers. Also the facilities were just so-so. The exterior of the buildings are beautiful, but inside (with the exception of the new library building), I was not impressed. I also was looking for a school that was closer to the main campus, and uconns law school is about 30 minutes away from the ug campus. Finally, I didnt like the feel of the people of the NE. Combine all that with the horrible weather (it rained every day I was in the NE), I decided uconn wasnt for me.

I thought I would like the atmosphere, and was very surprised when it actually turned me off.

Ill be at wake forest this fall (with kalvano).

That's pretty much spot-on. I didn't get to sit in on a class (and I love the weather), but it just didn't seem like a good place to spend 3 years. And I was very excited at the idea of possibly going there.

I posted about quality of classes and job prospects - you gave me no opinions about either until recently

I was asked would I be ok living in CT after graduation - I said I would probably do the reverse commute
