It depends how much above 3.7. Unfortunately, 3.7/159 are probably not T1 numbers. 3.9/159 might have a chance.

I just took the June LSAT, but I guess this applies to me considering how I thought I should've done
3.9x (closer to 4.0 than 3.9) GPA, and I think I'll end up with a 165 on the LSAT I just took (about 3 points below my average...sigh)
I realize that standard TLS advice would be "retake. go to hys," but I'd really prefer not to retake. If it IS a 165, I'll probably retake out of frustration anyway, but I'd start filling out my applications and selecting schools before that, so any advice in this thread would probably help me
With my 3.9x/(assumed) 165, Yale, HLS (my dream school), and CCN are all out ... Stanford is a long-shot, but they do favor GPA, Berkeley could be a good fit given that they favor GPA, and then I guess the schools from 8-14 could be a toss up
As long as I go to a t14, I'll be happy, but it's just frustrating knowing that you're capable of getting in the low 170s on the LSAT (and, combined with my GPA, hopefully getting $$$ at a t5) but coming up short
I guess there's no real answer to "how much can undergrad gpa outweigh a poor LSAT" -- the LSAT is, like or not (and I don't), the main ingredient in the application. A high (3.7+ GPA) coupled with a high 150s/low 160s should still be able to get you into a t2, however.
