Hello,

Could share his/her experience about applying to law school after having attended a music conservatory ?
I'll be graduating with a BM in a few years and would like to start planning my law school application.
Did you take any additional classes at college ? What ECs did you participate into ?

Thank you :) !

No extra classes, having a BM probably works in your favor as it makes you "different" then all the rest of them. Hopefully you have a good GPA though, if your conservatory has a GPA, get a good LSAT and you're good to go.

Not true, just about everyone has a BM.

LSAT and GPA are the only things that matter unless you're URM, majored in engineering, or cured cancer/wrote an award winning novel. You'll be viewed the same as anyone else with your GPA/LSAT combo. Caveat: if you have performed at a famous venue / won a prestigious award, that could be a moderate soft in your favor.

I can't speak to coming from a conservatory background, but my BM didn't seem to affect my cycle either way. Competitive numbers will make you a competitive applicant.

Hello OP, I am getting ready to apply to law schools and have done a lot of reviewing on acceptance of law schools.

They post the major/gpa/lsat score, and I thought I would share one thing that I noticed when I was reviewing a ton of applicants. There was a interesting applicant that stood out to me when I was reviewing a few of the top schools. He had a major in violin musical degree, with a 4.0 GPA and perfect 180 LSAT. He was applying to all of the top law schools, and to my surprise, he was wait listed at almost all of them. In fact, even a few colleges like Berkeley rejected him from what I saw.

I have no personal experience with this, and am not a specialist in this, so I can't really give you any guidance in anyway. I am simply sharing with you this experience, because I believe it would benefit you to know this. I have no clue on why this was a factor. But, I will say that I would look further into this and possibly consider this when applying to t14 schools. Seeing how right now you still have a lot of time for these considerations.

How can you be sure that the BM was the cause for his WLs and ding? Maybe he botched his PS or had C&F issues...

Sounds like a flame on LSN. YP explains some lower tier schools, but not all WL/R at T6. The only other thing I can think of is that his undergrad might not have been accredited or something like that. But most likely a flame. :P
