JD Underground is underrated (proof in thread)

I know JDU has its fair share of those who couldn't hack it in the legal profession and therefore make it their life's goal to discourage anyone else from attending a non-HYS law school, but I have actually found a lot of their threads to be quite useful and interesting. Here are links to some good discussions:

--LinkRemoved--

New solo practitioner with questions^

--LinkRemoved--

Lawyer discussing the consequences of missing a date in federal court^

--LinkRemoved--

Young attorney discussing a botched deposition ^

--LinkRemoved--

Some insight into the world of corporate bankruptcy

--LinkRemoved--

An ethical dilemma from a lawyer stuck in a crappy firm

Anyway, while most of the stuff on JDU is doom and gloom/not the kinda stuff kids going to/attending law school want to hear, there are still some good reads on that board and I hope TLSers don't tune them out.

I'm confused-- are you doing PR for them or something?

No- just found some interesting threads from practicing attorneys that were a good read/not a total waste of time. JDU gets trashed way too much on this board. I don't think JDU needs "PR" or else wouldn't that defeat the purpose of being "underground"

Far be it for know it all 0L's who have never worked in any kind of legal capacity to listen to those who have been to law school, passed the bar exam, and in many cases are practicing attorneys.

I'm duteously attempting to decipher exactly what it is this means, but I am at a loss.

I think this makes grammatically better, but the sentiment still leaves a bit to be desired.

Thank you, that makes a bit more sense.

JDU is a good site and nowhere near as negative as it's reputation.

Are you sure it's the site that has changed...or have you?

I think "far be it from know-it-all 0Ls" was probably the intent.

"It's just a room full of people who are full of shit going through the motions."

That is a quote from one of the comments in the botched depo thread. I just feel it is generally a good rule to live by, and worth repeating. It may also be applicable to JDU.

Haha-- fair enough. I think a lot of things get a bum rap on TLS that really shouldn't. Thanks for pointing out some of those articles. :-)
