As shown in poll.
Just curious. Do any of you guys find you get tired or sleepy as a result of working out before going to class, work or study sessions?

I chose all 3. Because I'm HUGE.

No. I'm sarcastic. And I don't understand this poll. If you already work out, then aren't you already aware of how it affects you?

I'm of the understanding that each person is different as a result of his preferences and/or biology. Some people seem to be able to wake up at 6am to go on that 5-10 mile run and still chug through the whole day without so much as yawning. Others who've tried that route end up losing steam around 10-11am and the lunch food coma tends to only make it worse. I've always been a night-time gym guy, but I'm starting to wonder whether it might be better to change that routine as it DOES make my schedule more irregular and thus my sleeping patterns more varied.

Its either first thing in the morning or last thing at night...for some reason, once I'm done with my workout in the morning I feel refreshed, awake and ready for the day. But if its at night, I feel its much easier to fall asleep once I've worked up a sweat and had a hot shower...I love both, but definitely never in the middle of the day, though.

I feel very sleepy after working out in the morning. i have to take a nap in the afternoon if I work out in the morning. But then by night, i'll get lazy to go to the gym. I think during law school: I'm either going to work out on days off... or I'm not going to work out at all... Even tho I'm a gym rat...
I don't want working out to get into studyign for law skoolio.

right now it's night time, but that's mostly because my morning bus to work leaves at 630
ideally i'd like to jog in the mornings and do weights a couple times a week at night, hoping i get into a nice mid-day section 1L

I'm at the gym by 5 am because, as I've stated before, by the end of the day I'm just way too depressed and broken from work to drag my ass out and get some cardio.

where's the 12am to 2am option for insomniacs who like a relatively empty gym?

Added
EDIT: Damn. Soon as I added an extra choice, all the tallies got erased.

Who wants to go to an empty gym? You can work out at home. The point of going to a gym is to stare at beautiful examples of the opposite sex (or same, if that's your thing) in very tight and revealing clothing.

I tend to do my more intense workouts in the morning - usually around 6am, but always end up doing some sort of physical activity before bed (usually yoga or stretching exercise) since it helps me sleep.
I used to be the night time workout guy, but it was hard to fit that into my work schedule. As long as you're used to it and have tried different times for multiple weeks to figure out what's best for you you can't go wrong.

Working out at a particular time has different effects depending on the person. I prefer to work out first thing in the morning. I generally feel much more alert and less sleepy for the rest of the day. When I work out lack of sleep doesn't affect me much.
Going to the gym in the afternoon/evenings doesn't work well for me. Things come up, I'm tired and just want to veg out, etc. It did work for awhile when I made it a routine to go straight from work every day. If I don't have a set daily workout schedule I won't stick to it.

I'm trying to get into AM workouts, but I've always been a 6pm-9pm workout person. I do feel better/refreshed if I workout around 7am, but it seems like anything before that will make the workout the most miserable I could imagine. I'm going to do some experimenting during my 5 week vacay before LS starts (when I can afford to be exhausted from trying something new instead of making my work day that much worse right now, lol).

Almost always in the morning. If I wait until my workday is over, I'm usually too exhausted to have a challenging workout. Also, there are some benefits of exercising in the morning such as increased metabolism for the rest of the day.

The epic failure with this poll is its lack of an option that includes the hours of 4-6pm, which, consequently, is when I typically work out. Thus, you are unable to distinguish between people like me, and those who don't work out at all.

Afternoon fo' sho' so that I can avoid all the jackasses barbell curling in the squat rack. Please get the fuck out of the squat rack unless you're a.) squatting b.) deading c.) Olympic lifting
Can we turn this into a rage thread about people that do retarded things in the gym?

Sorry, that was an unintentional error. I originally felt it would be better to keep the number of options at 5 or fewer and ended up rushing it a bit too quickly. If I try to revise this poll, it'll just erase the results so far.

Hehe, no worries... not really anything I care too much about. I suppose the evening option technically suits me better. I'll just throw my lot in with that one. After school is over... is the idea for me.

People can just select None of the Above and post any time that doesn't fit with the original choices.
