Top Law Schools

I'm curious--where do you typically have to score on the LSAT in order to get full tuition?

Possibly T3 or T4. GPA of 3.1

I'm broke and need a free ride.

I'm not looking for a top school...maybe T-3 or T-4. GPA 3.1

Why can't you just take out loans like everybody else?

OP ... I am kinda in your shoes ... needed/wanted a full ride. As an international student I wont qualify for federal loans and had no one to co-sign for me for a private loan.
Do you have a state that you woudl like to go to law school in?

There are afew schools you could get a full ride with like a 170, since your GPA is 3.1.

I was offered two full rides with 3.8, 154, but I have the minority boost and lot's of favor!

I bet a 168 would be enough for T3/4.

OP, target schools that hand out scholarship dollars like they're going out of style. Hofstra, Pitt, a few others in tier 2 do this and even with a 3.1 you might get money. Take the LSAT, see what you get, and spam every school where your LSAT is above 75%. You'll probably get fee waivers for a lot of these schools and can request from those who don't give them automatically. The LSAT is too big a variable at the moment. Do the best you can, get as high as you can get, and then look into this. I think a 168 would get you damn near full at some tier 2 schools if you applied early.

With a 3.1 you think to OP will get a full ride with less than high 160s? I am sure individual cases vary, but they seemed to be asking how high you need to secure a full ride. Maybe I'm off by a few points, but with a 3.1 I highly doubt 160s are getting full rides anywhere.

It's not so simple as throwing out a score. It entirely depends on the school.

Get waivers and apply broadly if your stats aren't strong enough to historically merit a full ride. If you have an interesting diversity angle, you may greatly benefit from that as well. I certainly did and was able to outperform my numbers (159/3.74). Good luck!

I think the school matters, too. Schools like Hofstra, that game numbers, will give you a damn high percentage of tuition regardless, simply because your high LSAT dramatically raises their numbers and your low GPA is easily fudged. That assumes you get a high LSAT. Take the LSAT and then come back for advice.

You probably need to be above the 75th percentile for LSAT at the school (note: not a score in the 75th percentile of all test-takers). Even then, it will be difficult to get a full ride with a 3.1. Full rides usually go to students who have numbers above both medians.

A 170+ can get you a FT at a T2. Why go for broke?

Because I already owe a lot of money on another advanced degree

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to shoot for the high 160's and practice my a$$ off!

P.S. I don't mind taking out loans to cover my living expenses...I would just like to have my tuition paid for.

For what you're describing, I think St Johns is your best bet, and it's a T2, even if it's at the bottom. I applied there since I knew they gave out a lot of full irdes and wanted that option. 3.18/ 166 though I did have work experience and good LOR's, but I know how much stock everyone puts in that stuff.

Only stip was top 50% School's name is known, even if the law school's rep isnt that hot, so it's not like teh south atlantic Florida Tech college of law of our lady of peace or anything.

A general rule is that getting above a school's 75th percentile LSAT will get you significant $$$ at schools that are willing to overlook a low GPA. Without more specific info I can't give a more specific answer.
