Does it hint that they are a terrible school that needs "anyone" with a GPA above 3.0 to boost their numbers?

I'm a little suspicious of why one or two schools have been emailing AND SNAIL MAILING me so much and reminding me (in at least one case) that they take the february and/or JUNE LSATs! Like wow, I haven't even done anything to earn all that attention yet!

Or are they just trying to diversify and don't care on the quality of that diversity?

lol I woudn't call it spam but I don't want to be rude cause who knows, maybe I'm not as smart as I think I am and they will be my only options (doubt it, but don't want to get cocky this early).

They are lower ranked schools though, for context.

Ya, I got spam from Cooley and Houston LS pre-LSAT. I had to look up Cooley b/c that was before I got onto these forums and I had no clue who they were

When you sign up for LSAC, you definitely should not check the box about receiving notifications from schools. It's just a big spam list.

Yeah, but higher ranked schools will also do this to some extent. Many will go so far as to offer fee waivers to encourage you to apply. I'm not entirely sure why some of the higher ranked schools do this but the cynics on this sight (myself included) would say it's to boost their application numbers which lowers their acceptance rate which increases their ranking. Speaking from my personal experience this cycle, I got about six unsolicited application fee waivers. Of that six, I aplied to, I think, five of the schools. I was rejected at three and WL at two.

lol well fee waivers I don't think are extreme at all, and if you got a fee waiver from the LSAC most of them will also give you one automatically. I believe Yale and Harvard you have to actually send them mail or email to request their fee waiver, they don't do it auto. I don't mind those, but I think they are using current students' tuition money to waste on my mailbox and on the mainteance of the server/program that sends out the emails...they should be more respectful of their students' money and wait til I have an LSAT to talk about.

This sounds just like a conversation I had with my freshman roomate trying convince him that those on campus modeling recruiters making "appointments" (ie handing out flyers with a time written on the back with a sharpie) were really just going to try and get him to pay for glamour shots/ induce him to do porn.

In the case of other posters referring to Cooley the later of my explanations is relevant.

They just want to get you alone so they can eff you someplace very uncomfortable.

Calm down. The app. process is new to me and I thought given all the hype over LSAT scores even the schools people don't rate would save their breath for when your test results come, so I was truly surprised by not just initial "hi, how are you, we are out here so when you start applying consider us" but ONGOING hand-waving...and wanted to know what's in it for them to jump the gun like this. Even in high school people didn't start crowding you with recruitment paraphernalia until after your SATs came out.

That said, just got another email from a law school I have actually never heard of at all and not concerned about naming: Hamline University's law school...nice full colour HTML active one, too!

Actually Yale and Stanford are the only ones that require you to mail in a separate fee waiver request form, all the other schools will simply grant you one if you already have an LSAC fee waiver.
