Top Law Schools

Hey, I am new, and I am prepping right now for the application process for the Fall 2011.

I wanted to know if it is essential to take part in an internship or paid position centric to the legal environment.

I am a political science major at a Tier 1 in NYC (Hunter), and am finding it difficult to get anything in the legal industry, especially with the actual law students seeking those internships over the summer. I may be able to score something in the Fall 2010, but my applications will be outgoing by then. My top choices are USC, UCLA, Loyola LA, Pepperdine (if that helps)

Any suggestions? Apart from my involvement in an organization (in process of seeking incorporation as a non-profit) dedicated towards the economic development of Long Island, I have no work experience beyond the Gap inc.

How will this affect my admissions?

You haven't worked for a Supreme Court justice yet? You're so fucked.

That makes me feel a lot less nervous. Now onto the LSAT...

You work experience and extracurricular activities do not need to revolve around the law. Consistency is all adcomms would like to see. Even then, it's such an extremely tiny factor in your applications compared to LSAT/GPA.
