Does the Peace Corps count as work experience?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I was wondering if a two year stint in the Peace Corps would satisfy Northwestern's preference/requirement for work experience?

Any thoughts as to how NU views the Peace Corps and how it would effect the admissions process?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Yes it seems like work. Peace Corps is considered a good soft. It is not as good as three extra points on the LSAT but it is better than working as a paralegal, maybe less than Iraq/Afganistan Military experience and more than regular military. If you can combine that with impressive LORs and evidence that you accomplished something than you are in good shape.

I'm in Teach For America right now, it's an Americorps program and similar to Peace Corps. I know that we have a partnership with NU where they waive our application fee and accept a number of applicants right out of the program every year.

Do you have any links to support this?

Look under the legal services link.

FWIW, my career mentor in TFA did law school at NW right after her teaching experience. Hope this helps.
