Makeshift "Decision Rendered" Work-Around

Disclaimer: This worked for me, but might not work for you.

When my status checker turned to "decision rendered," I got very impatient.

I waited until the following day (afternoon) and called the schools admissions office and said that I received my acceptance letter and was wondering if I also received any aid money.

Although admissions decisions are normally not given over the phone, after looking up my LSAC#, the lady came back on the line and said I had been wait-listed, and received the acceptance in error.

Yeah, it's risky, but it worked for me.

Wow. I hope you didn't get anybody in trouble.

Whoever signed off on your wait-list letter did their job correctly. You just lied to the admissions committee and told them that the person fucked up their job horribly. Reminds me of when I worked at a movie theater, and there were signs saying "If the cashier doesn't ask you if you want a combo, you get a free ticket!" Huge asshats would go to management all the time and finger random people just to get the ticket. Some of my buddies got fired that way.

Why would you lie instead of just straight-up asking for the decision?

If you just ask for the decision then they would probably say that decisions are not given over the phone.
