In between applying to law school (currently in the process right now), waiting for decisions and hoping to start in September 2011, i'm going to apply for a few legal research, paralegal type jobs. Anyway, currently I do the gel in the hair, semi spike thing:

or more

not me btw.

I think law firms look for the more conservative look, so now i'm thinking of going for a more "colbert" hairstyle, combed to the side kind of thing. I'm probably over analyzing the hair thing, but any suggestions?

I suggest getting more conservative. You may still spike it, but from the looks of it right now you're going overboard. It looks like some character from Jersey Shore or Dragonball Z.

I say if you want to keep the spike, just don't do the sides like that.

FYI Colbert cut will probably be easier and take less primping and products.

OP I think you are okay, but only if you match it with an Ed Hardy suit and an orange tan. Gotta complete the look.

Employers want a man who's confident, a man unafraid of going all out in the pursuit of the almighty dollar and, by extension, willing to do anything to impress and/or intimidate a client. I give you... your new hairstyle.

I have the long side burn things also, I guess that has to go, exactly like that guy in the pic.

Try not to look like something from Japanese cartoons.

That haircut makes me want to punch you in your face and it reminds me of this quote:

"I like hair gel because it allows me to spot a**holes from a distance."

If you're not sure, err on the side of conservative hairstyles and grooming.

I don't think there's anything wrong with gel if you do it conservatively. A blowout would not go over well because it looks pretty immature.

As a woman, I thank you for conceding to this. Sideburns and/ or spiked hair scream high school dropout. Polished is posh. Go look at any large brand's men's fashion show if you are desperate for inspiration. If you wear Axe it may be time to invest on some EXPENSIVE cologne. It's very easy to tell when it's cheap... Gross haha
Or, you know, don't wear cologne. Just stick with the degree or the old spice.

If youre good looking then you can have whatever style you want. Good looking people get more leeway.

I really can't believe someone asked this. Just use common sense and don't do anything wild.

I have no hair, so I don't have to worry about it.
