Just pick a style that fits you. Some people look best in long hair, some people look best in short.

50+ years removed and the Don Draper style is still, for the most part, the model for the classy professional appearance.

Mad Men confuses me. On one hand, I enjoy the show. On the other, so do hipsters.

It's ok, with all the vastly differing interests between normal humans like you and hipsters like me, surely we can share one common interest.TheBigMediocre wrote:

I would tone it down and go shorter. Switch from gel to wax, cream or something that says "no shine" You can still shape it without it looking all shiny and wet a la Paulie Cheeseballs
Sincerely,
Jonathan Anton

All the better to flick at the peasants who come in to your office by mistake. It says GTFO without having to slum it by speaking to them.

you shouldn't wear that hairstyle in ANY job, or in any instance EVER for the rest of your life.

Unless you face a gang of hooligans, and then it becomes a self-defense weapon.

Very few guys can pull off the slicked-straight-back look.

I'm in shock that someone with a blow out is going to be a lawyer. Shutters. That has to be the worst hairstyle ever. OP must love Long Island sluts.

Re: Any particular hairstyle law firms look for?
This:
is not a haircut.
The very fact that you needed to even ask if this was appropriate for law practice is stunning. I don't know you. You could be a very intelligent, funny, and like-able guy; but good god, men's (MEN'S, not BOY'S) fashion is conservative and low key. What you have done to your hair is not conservative and low key.
While we're at it:
No, skinny ties are not appropriate either. Neither are brightly colored shirts under your suit. My best, and most honest, advice to you is to outright ignore whatever you personally believe is stylish. What you consider stylish (as was already well pointed out in this thread) is considered the "garb of an asshole" by the rest of society.

Re: Any particular hairstyle law firms look for?
Really? I mean, obnoxiously skinny is one thing, but what about 2.5" at the bottom? What about the occasional knit tie? Obviously I wouldn't push the envelope during an interview or an important meeting with a client, but do firms really dislike associates showing any personality at all?mb88 wrote: While we're at it:

Go with this. Business in the front, world destroying party in the back.
Also, in your interviews, make sure you show up wearing this, it's what all the playas wear around the law firms yo.

I think regular width ties make you look old. Nobody under 40 should be wearing a regular width tie.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
