Is it true that some schools dont even read the whole app?

I've read of instances on this board where people have gotten what seemed like auto-rejections. The accusation is that the law schools didnt even bother reading their application and rejected them based on their numbers. I find it hard to believe that law schools would do that to their applicants considering the applicants are paying an application fee. Does anybody have a more concrete answer on the validity of those claims about applications being rejected without being thoroughly reviewed?

Schools do have minimum requirements numbers wise, and may barely glance over PS and letters of Rec. That might take 10 minutes and could equal an auto reject.

I sleep easier believing that any school that WL/Rejected me didn't read my whole app.

As a former admissions committee member, I can attest that there are occasions when an application is not thoroughly reviewed. It would be logistically impossible for any admissions committee to carefully review the many thousands of applications it receives in the amount of time allotted.

It's a nice thought, but who has the time?!

Look at LSN. You'll note that most schools have a "quadrent" of the scatter plot that's all red.

For one of my top choices, I got dinged a WEEK after I applied.
I'm mean, you've got to be kidding me... A week is barely enough time for LSAC to send my materials to them.
Bastard adcomm had the nerve to say they thoroughly read and consider every part of every app before making a decision... I guess as thoroughly as 2 minutes while facebooking will allow.
Probably rejected me just because they couldn't pronounce my name.

Doubtful.
Don't forget that they sometimes admit that quickly as well.

Sure, but they can do that without reading the app, too.

As a former admissions committee slave, I say temps, dude, temps!! They can't read the PS/LORs or decision the app, but they can do literally everything else.

Yeah. But why would they?

Bitter!
Even if a week was barely enough time for LSAC to get them your materials, 99.9% of the delay in receiving a decision is in shipping and sitting in the stack of admissions packets waiting to float to the top. Once the adcomms have yours in hand, it takes what, like, 10 minutes to read it
thoroughly?
Are you certain you got dinged 10 minutes earlier than you should have been to have considered it reasonable?

They probably were on TLS and saw you had Jamarcus Russell as an avatar and figured that was all they needed to know...

Should have gone with Gradkowski. Alternatively you can wait a year and possibly rescore a McNabb for more prestige.

They probably rejected you for affiliating yourself with a sub-par quaterback that can't throw for beans.

Would you really feel that much better knowing they spent 4 minutes reading your shitty essay?
