And also state why you think your cycle went the way it did. Good softs/ bad softs? Good PS/ Bad PS? The economy?

Mine's been kind of a mix. Into a school that was a reach, waitlisted at some safeties (in at Wake Forest, W/L at L&C, Baylor). When UW gets back to me then I should know....

So your vote could potentially turn into "much better than expected?"

A little worse. I got good scholarships from my targets, but I didn't get into a single reach.

What if I'm still waiting for replies from schools?
I hate waiting...

Slightly worse (still waiting on 4 schools). I figured i'd get at least one reach. So far all of my reaches have been WL.

slightly worse than expected but mostly because I'm an optimist
I was expecting to get more scholarship $ than I did. I think my GPA hurt me at a lot of places.

Worse.
Reasons- perhaps a bit of overshooting, and scattershot applying, but I have to think that part (big part?) of the problem is the reputation of my undergrad. (Think highly conservative, Christian, inflammatory school leadership).
Other people were getting money with my numbers at schools I was getting waitlists from.
New plan: 1) Wait a year, have very clear school targets and reasons why to apply to said schools.
2) Visit my top choices so they can see I'm not a complete nutter.

So far things have gone exactly as expected, maybe a little better given my natural pessimism. I got rejected to my one and only reach; got into three targets w/ modest scholarships; got waitlisted at a target that's known for waitlisting people; and still waiting on three more schools on the higher end of my target range. One of those still pending was my initial first choice, but I'm gradually falling out of favor.
Bottom line: I'm guaranteed to end up at a school that I'm perfectly happy going to in an area I'm perfectly happy living in. Can't complain.

much better than expected.
why? I believe it's been a combination of work experience, big softs, and an incredible set of LORs (I worked for years on those relationships).
Then, in my application I gave them every reason to say yes, and when they turned the page, there was another reason to say yes, and then another. My PS was drafted, edited, reworked, edited, etc, with a fierce eye by several objective parties (including two different English/writing professors). I was honest, authentic, and took risks. It was very "me" - I wasn't trying to fit into a box or tell them what I think they wanted to hear.

Pretty much as expected. I wish I had applied to a few more reaches, though.

Worse....thought I had a great PS and some very good LORs. I come from a strong Tier 3 state school and gotten every academic accolade accesible. Got waitlisted at a school I should have easily gotten into (could be YP). Got $$ from a school slightly ranked better than that. Still waiting to hear from U-Dub.
The cycle did make me realize that I had a very narrow focus in terms of schools. I should have applied to more schools and a better variety. I will try again provided that I get dinged from U-Dub.

Slightly better than expected as far as scholarship offers go. I basically got accepted/rejected to every school I expected to based on my numbers, but I was surprised by some of the $ offers I got.

Slightly better than expected. I got into Michigan, which I know I was kinda a 50/50 shot going into it. I got a slightly larger scholly from Vandy than some of the people with my exact same numbers. So, overall, I'm really pleased.

Better. I got into a school (Vandy) that I thought I had a 50/50 shot at, and they gave me a bunch of money to boot. It was probably my softs or interesting PS I guess, but who knows really; I don't know how well my softs stack up to other people's.

Nice thread.
I can say mine has gone as expected, but then again I don't really have any extraordinary softs so, no surprise it has gone as expected (if I can be redundant for a moment). I didn't make it in at any reaches, received decent money from my safeties, and did well at most of my targets (I might be singing a different tune though if I receive a couple waitlists/rejections from IUB and UNC in the next couple weeks).
