Quickly read through this.
With a 3.95 GPA, your goal should not be lowest LSAT possible for T14.
Fix these ambitions.

Actually, you are 100% right. If I get a 170 to go with my 3.95, I will have some pretty nice options.booboo wrote:Quickly read through this.

Sorry to be harsh, but you didn't learn the intended lesson, I believe. If you have a 180 to go with your 3.95, then you will have some great options. Good luck.

I know a guy (white) personally. He got in with 152poo wrote:Yeah and they are one of my top choices too.... Is it true they favor GPA over the lsat?BigA wrote:forgetting about Berkeley?
3.95 (especially from private school) and 163 will get you in.
Cal state degree might not work though.

I want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly... you're saying a 3.95/ 163 has a good shot at Cal (as a white dude)?

Don't treat that as gospel.poo wrote:I want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly... you're saying a 3.95/ 163 is an admit to Cal?JustDude wrote:I know a guy (white) personally. Those numbers could get in, but by no means do the represent an admit.

hell, i'm 170, 3.9x, non-URM, non-HYP(S-for crack), and i got into all of the T8. take that, UG prestige!!crackberry wrote:That's a different argument. If we agree that 172, 3.9 HYPS beats 172, 3.9 Nothing State, though, that means UG prestige means something, no?Oblomov wrote:I don't think anyone argues that. I don't think a 175, 3.9 from a poor UG is screwed, but I think if we're talking about HYSChicago in particular, the 172, 3.9 from HYPS UG wins out over the 172, 3.9 from Nothing State every single time (excepting URM).
For the record, I think 170, 3.9 HYPS with a solid app is probably about = to 172, 3.9 Nothing State.

High GPA + High LSAT, and UG prestige doesn't matter. But mediocre LSAT + high GPA and the prestige does matter.lawyering wrote:hell, i'm 170, 3.9x, non-URM, non-HYP(S-for crack), and i got into all of the T8. take that, UG prestige!!crackberry wrote:That's a different argument. So if you have a 3.95+ at one of the 10-15 most selective schools in the country, you don't need to have a 170 to get in. You just need low 160s to show your brain works decently. You've already shown you can hang with the best of 'em in an academic setting.

Anecdotal, but a friend of mine had a 3.96 with a 165 and decent softs and got completely shut out of T14.

Berkeley is a crapshoot even with that gpa. As aforementioned, there is no set LSAT minimum, but a 166 with an ED may do the trick.BigA wrote:forgetting about Berkeley?

TCR is everyone should always aim for a 170+ no matter what their GPA is. If you check out LSP, you're right, 170/3.95 will really help take you places.poo wrote:Actually, you are 100% right. +1. I am convinced of the same. I think my UG, which does not inflate grades, absolutely had a positive effect on my cycle -- several schools mentioned it specifically, and not just in passing. I think it's part of why I did better than LSN would predict I would with my numbers.crackberry wrote:I realize we could debate this all day, but I'm popping in to say the underlined just isn't true. I'm sorry. It's a myth that TLS likes to promote, but UG prestige definitely matters to a certain extent at the very top schools. There is no question about it.vanwinkle wrote:Totally doesn't matter (unless maybe if it's like University of Phoenix Online or something, in which case a few schools might blink, but even then probably not).poo wrote:One you've probbaly never heard of... will that screw me?blsingindisguise wrote:3.95 from what kind of school?

T30ish liberal arts school and a government major (lol). I don't think she took a single science class in college. She re-took at 170+ and (needless to say) got into some good schools.quickquestionthanks wrote:What type of UG and major?ughOSU wrote:Anecdotal, but a friend of mine had a 3.96 with a 165 and decent softs and got completely shut out of T14.
