Are there any statistics for the increase in applications this cycle? And is there any speculation as to whether various schools will be increasing the size of their first year class in reaction to this increase in applications?

i highly doubt schools will increase their class size. Also, the bulk of the increase in apps has come from ppl applying to more schools, not because of a huge amount of extra ppl applying to law school, so it's not like there's that many more bodies to fill extra spaces.

Hopefully, you are correct and this translates into a lot of movement for waitlisted applicants this year.

The first part is probably right. The second part is shady, as last I heard the number of LSAT takers this year was up roughly 20%. Sure, for some schools like Cornell who supposedly has 50% more apps, this doesn't explain it, but most schools say 20-30% app increase which makes sense.

With the help of this site and others, like LSN, I have cast a much wider net than I would have otherwise. I applied to at least 5 more schools than I would have without this kind of help.

This site also encourages people to take the LSAT multiple times. Plus schools have been encouraging multiple tests with moving away from averaging LSATs.

I do believe there are more applicants this cycle than in the past. But stats of increased applications and increased LSATs might exaggerate that.

You really think this site has that kind of impact on the roughly 150,000 LSAT takers? You are essentially saying that TLS convinced enough people to retake that the ratio of first time takers to retakers has changed? I am not saying this is impossible, just a very ambitious assumption.
