I noticed my transcript analysis GPA is 3.56 but my official school GPA is 3.95 (top 3%).

I was quite the slacker as a freshman and didn't attend class and obviously failed, had to retake. Also transfered major after freshman year.

It looks like the transcript analysis considers all those F's too.

Anything I can do about it? My resume says 3.95, the actual transcript says 3.95, but if their official LSAC analysis says 3.56, that really sucks.

If you have a valid reason, write an addendum. Otherwise, you're kind of stuck with it. I don't know how you came out with a near 4.0 after failing a class. What kind of grading system does your school use?

I was in a similar situation... my LSAC GPA sucks.

I failed but retook it. The failed course remains in the transcript but the new grade will overwrite the old one.

So I got F in COURSE101, I get A next semester in the same COURSE101, the GPA doesn't reflect the F. But transcript will still list it.

Not sure if this counts as nonpunitive, maybe I should write to LSAC about it.

When I got my shit together I basically got all A's except 2 B's.

Nothing you can do except write an addendum, which won't do much for you. Your GPA is a 3.56 and will be counted as such. LSAC correctly calculated in your F's as per their policy of repeated courses.

Was looking online and found this written by someone anonymously.

Repeated course grades are only included if BOTH the credits and the grade are included on your transcript. For example, my schools codes the old grade as "R" and the grade disappears, that will not be included. Schools that leave the old grade on the transcript where it can be seen, whether or not the school calculates it, then LDAS will include it.

So arbitary depending on what the school does. Based on whether they rewrite the old grade or keep it. Even if not calculated in the school's GPA. Sigh. Mistakes in life.

I didn't slack off freshman year. I slacked off soph and junior year. Jeez, get it right!

As someone mentioned in a similar thread, there are no takebacksies when LSAC calculates your GPA.

sry OP, your LSAC GPA is what it is because of the retakes -- some (most?) schools dont even allow retakes where a new grade can replace an older one (and yes i realize a few dont even put the old ones on there after a retake! egads those guys are lucky!)

There's not much you can do. As has already been suggested, maybe you could write an addendum if there is a valid reason for the freshman grades (other than slacking off). You should, however, continue to list the 3.95 on your resume, because that's what your transcript says. You should do that, in fact, even if your transcript GPA was lower than your LSDAS GPA.
