Top Law Schools

So I know that many folks stick with the conventional LSAT score, GPA, Personal Statement, etc., but I'm interested to hear what unconventional things people did and how it turned out.

Things like sending videos, writing poetry, hand-delivering applications, submitting books written about the applicant, compiling news articles, etc.

This is a real thing? People actually do this? If your life was so extraordinary to have a book about you, wouldn't a PS be a better way to discuss that? Maybe if you wrote a book, or an article about you if it was relevant. But a video? Of what? It seems so flakey.

I'm not advocating for this practice, but I'm just asking.

See, as an adcom, I would be impressed by the confidence shown by such an act.

I spoke with an adcom (outside of any sort of professional or law school related setting) who told me a disturbing number of people include a number of professional photos of themselves in their applications. The photos always go in the trash.

I think I read somewhere (perhaps on apps themselves) that one should not send books and videos, as they will be thrown out.

I think we typically see adcomms as being very numbers driven, but my goal in my app was to make the numbers a backdrop. I think if we give them a reason to *not* be numbers driven, we are more likely to get the hollistic approach. My numbers arent that strong..in fact my gpa is downright pathetic..but I know that I am more than numbers, so thats pretty much what I went for in my apps.

jury is out on the effectiveness of such method. will get back to you after fordham accepts me :p

My penis pic got me into Northwestern.

i spent a paragraph comparing law to art in my PS. that's about as unconventional as i got. i thought it was pretty spicey.

Someone considered this as a PS:

I included my inner-tube water polo intramural championship in my 1-page resume. I've actually gotten several comments about it from adcomms, all positive.
