When is it too late to apply?

Post by Yellowcard » Tue Feb 09, 2010 4:19 pm

I have already applied to quite a few schools. However, as I receive acceptances/rejections I am realizing that I may have aimed too high with my numbers, but at the same time I may have aimed too low with my numbers. I am thinking about applying to one or two more schools closer to where I think my range of schools is in the rankings.

With a 162/3.63...is it worth it or is it too late for me to send out apps to:
U of Iowa
Boston College
UNC

My question is two fold:
1. Is it too late for me to apply and hope to get in with my numbers?
2. Do I even have a chance at either of these schools?

BC will not admit you unless you have some really, really awesome soft(s) and is probably not worth your app fee at this point (LSAT below 25th, GPA below median). Iowa and UNC are worth shots, though, even this late.

So you think my shot of admittance is probably like:
1. Iowa
2. UNC
3. BC

I might have to send out apps to UNC and Iowa then. I've heard UNC is notorious for Rejecting people who may fit their numbers, but happen to be out of state such as myself.

Yes, UNC says they don't look at IS and OOS students differently but statistics seem to say otherwise. The priority deadline for scholarship consideration was December 31st, so you see how much they prefer early applications too. It may not be worth the $70 application fee at this point, really depends on how broke you are, I guess. Good luck if you do choose to apply though because UNC rocks! :)
