Is it worth it for me to apply to Yale?
I'm a senior at an Ivy with a 3.74 and 174. I'm thinking it might not even be worth applying because of my relatively low GPA. Thoughts?

Well now its probably too late...but with the Ivy UG you would have had a shot at Yale, not a great one but a shot nonetheless

Why not? You only apply to law schools once. I don't see why you shouldn't apply to any school you want.

Y is snooty about kids from Ivy UGs. Just do it.
Worst case you waste a few hours writing a trite Yale 250 and go to some other T6 instead.

Sometimes false. In this case, OP should wait it out till next year, apply early and enjoy HYS.Kiersten1985 wrote:Why not? You only apply to law schools once. I don't see why you shouldn't apply to any school you want.

I can't figure out why posters tell others to apply early to a school that doesn't really do rolling admissions...

I usually don't, unless they've already started accepting people for that year.capitalacq wrote:I can't figure out why posters tell others to apply early to a school that doesn't really do rolling admissions...

"Yale is notorious for releasing many admissions decisions in mid-late April. However, it should be noted that applying earlier in the cycle does not provide any boost to an applicant’s chances of being admitted; while the school does give offers of admission on a rolling basis, it does not fill the class until after having read all applications submitted by February 15th."

If you think you have the softs to pull it off then go for it. It matters less at Yale about than other places how early or late you apply. That being said, you are right that your gpa is a bit too low. You will likely need some an outstanding 250 and other softs to get the job done, but who knows, no real down side to applying i say go for it.
