Transferring to Boalt or UCLA?

Looking for some advice on next year...
I wasn't accepted at Boalt (not surprisingly....numbers weren't great), but was accepted at Hastings. Does anyone know the skinny on transferring into Boalt or UCLA? Should I go to Hastings for a year, and then try to transfer to Boalt/UCLA, or, re-take the LSAT and just start from scratch next cycle? I want to go into public policy, and both Boalt/UCLA would be better than Hastings, which doesn't have as many DC connections, and doesn't participate in the UC in DC program. Is it madness to start at Hastings, knowing that I want to transfer? Any thoughts from people in the same boat, or people who have transferred?
Thanks, any input is appreciated!!

I wouldn't start at hastings unless you will be happy graduating from the school.

Retake.
Your performance on the LSAT is much easier to control than your performance in your first year of law school. Don't go to a school you wouldn't be happy graduating from. Spending a few months really working on the LSAT should allow you to raise your score, giving you better opportunities at higher ranked schools, or better opportunities for scholarships. Either way, it is time well spent in the long run.

Sadly, with a 3.5 your going to have to get a 170+ to even have a shot, and not a great shot at that. Like others have already said, do not go to a school you would not be happy graduating from. Transferring is so difficult I think you would have a better shot of retaking the LSAT and getting a 173 and maybe getting into Berk on your first try than you would have getting in by transferring.

It's not madness if you go in wanting to transfer. It's madness if you go in expecting to transfer. Only go to a school that you would be happy to graduate from.

And one that you would be happy graduating from at median.
