Public or Private

Post by mwalke46 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 10:25 pm

So I just go into the University of Miami but the only problem is that tuition is 37,000 a year. I think I stand a good change of getting into some public law schools in Florida where tuition would be about 13,000 a year. My question is: Is it really worth the extra expense to go to a private school? I'm just a little hesitant to go because of how expense it is.

Where do you want to work? That is the key. If you want to be in Florida, go public. UF is a great school, and with that you can get into most of the major SE markets. And I say all of this as someone who went private and graduated with a lot of zeros in my debt. If you know where you want to be, it's not worth the additional expense.

from what I know:

In South Florida UM = UF > FSU > Stetson

Everywhere else in FL UF is a much better choice. And if u have in state residency then UF is cheap too.

If you get into UF, do not choose Miami at sticker. Public vs. Private doesn't really matter in terms of educational quality or job prospects.
