1. When I check my online status should the fact that I am applying ED be noted somewhere by the university?
2. When UVA has made a decision, will I be notified via email or do I need to continually check the status online?

I don't know about the ED status, but I got an e-mail from an admissions director asking me to call him to discuss my transcript. When I called he told me I had gotten in. I know there are people who have had a similar experience as well at least with acceptances.

Waitlist is via email. Don't think ED is marked on the status checker.

1. No extra markings on your AP for ED. You need to mail an additional form. You may want to mention it in your PS or include an addendum that it is on the way. I personally did not mention it anywhere on my application. I just mailed in the form.

2. Usually email or phone call, but some have said they received only a status update. May depend on how busy the admissions office is that week. I received an email requesting a phone call.
