Apply. LSP doesn't take WE into account. I would say that you have a decent shot.
And your wife is wrong. Tell her to shut-up.

I think your wife forbidding you to attend the #2 law school in the nation is a larger problem than whether you should apply.
And is she okay with the debt of Columbia and SLS but not Harvard?

My wife says under no circumstances will I be allowed to attend if somehow I do get accepted as she does not want that debt and does not think that even Harvard will be worth it.
I've applied to quite a few schools, with two of them being significant reaches (Columbia and Stanford).
So, should I waste the $99 on Harvard?
Your wife already said you can't go even if you get in.

Well put. I applied to HLS with similar numbers. I'm not expecting to get in, but you're only in this position once: exploit it so at least there's some certainty.

I like how all these undergrads are trying to comment on his marriage
They're planning to have a kid soon so local support systems matters especially if they're going to both be busy/working
That said, if your goal is big-law, you should probably go for the higher ranked schools... and with biglaw working hours, you should probably get used to having an unhappy wife
If your goal is not biglaw, then scholarship at a lower ranked school might make sense

I definitely come off that way in here.
My friends have never accused me of that though. I feel like the man of the house, but as a married man, I'd be very foolish not to consider her happiness in a decision such as this. A happy wife = a happy life.
i agree. i dont think it is your wife
forbidding you, but id imagine a lot of ppl here are young, naive, (myself included) and really just think of themselves. a marriage is really about more than always doing what
you want to do. you have a family to think about...and yes, their opinions matter.
im chinese, so i come from a background where im extremely close to my family, in the sense that they have been very involved in my life (all aspects), and that's not going to change overnight, nor would i want it to necessarily change at all. their opinions about what schools i should attend (even if i got in), while not absolute, carry a lot of weight. i imagine it is the same for you and your wife, and at least from my own personal stand point, i can see where you're coming from.
but send out the app...$99 is all you'd lose, but in return you get to have your shot. if you get in, you're in no worse a situation than the one you are hypothetically contemplating right now...if you dont, well you dont lose anything either (excluding the $99).

If you decide to take out $200,000 in debt without her permission, then I hope the resulting divorce leaves you in such a financial black hole that you won't even be able to pass character and fitness.

OP obviously respects his wife's thoughts in this matter, as evidenced by his posts above. I think you need to step down from the pulpit.
EDIT: OP beat me to the punch.

I decided since it was such a reach... I'd use my fun money for it. (My wife and I each get a set amount of money to waste on what we want. It helps us stay on budget and save. And before you all call whipped again, it was my idea.

)
My wife let's me think things are my idea too.
