Haiti Quake Please Help!

Post by rocross1 » Wed Jan 13, 2010 9:47 pm

Current total raised and donated by TLS members: $6,786.98 + 131,500 airline miles (~$2,650 value), as of 2/11/10.

I know we are all mostly poor college kids but if you can give a little bit will go a long way. This quake is horrendous and the country is already so poor. I think it would be really cool if TLS came up with some charity for these victims of the Quake.

William J. Clinton Foundation (LinkRemoved)

Oxfam America

Direct Relief International

UNICEF

The American Red Cross

Edited by OS: If you gave anonymously but would like to be included in the TLS fundraising tally, please PM OperaSoprano. If everyone on TLS gave even $10, think how much good we could do.

Edited by YCR: Added/beautified links. Ranked in order with best rated by Charity Navigator at the top.

I'm in for $10. Let's see how much TLS can put towards this.

You can't buy shit for $5-10 now anyways, so why not throw it towards some people who could really use the help right now?

$25 to Clinton Foundation, lets see what TLS can do. Anyone volunteer to keep up with what we give as a total.

As a person of Haitian descent with family in Haiti, thanks a lot, everyone! I'm glad to see that there are some people on TLS with compassion.

$50 to the Red Cross earlier today. My best friend was there 8 months ago delivering food and supplies to the Haitians after the last disaster (Tsunami). He's a crew chief in the Marine Corps on a CH53 helicopter

it sucks especially when you have family over there and cannot contact/communicate them at all. it's a shame that this country's issues have been compounded by this disaster. it makes you thankful for all that you have.

Many thanks to those of you who are stepping up. As fun as the TLS Lounge is, it's nice to see it come together for a greater purpose once in a while.
