Will LSAT score ever come into play after admissions??

I was contemplating a retake (I have a 170) I came to the conclusion that it I would stick with my score despite the fact that it is at the 25th Percentile of HYCC. But if I were lucky enough to get into any of those schools (which i might be with a 4.0 GPA) would a low-end LSAT possibly come back to haunt me? Whether in getting a clerkship, biglaw job, or any other competitive position? If my score might come into play in the future I might have more reason to consider a retake. So please, any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

1) No.

2) How many posts are you going to make asking about an LSAT retake before you decide whether or not to do it?

Every decent legal job out there requires an LSAT score on your resume.

Well I'm not taking it in Feb. But June is some time from now and in the interim I might conclude that a retake is worth a shot.

The thing is I really want a top 6 school. Strongly prefer HYS. But I am not sure how a 170 4.0GPA half URM plays out. Some people here think I'm in Most T6 no problem, and if I were a full URM I would agree. But I am not, so I simply don't know how I'd play out. Retaking the 170 and getting a 174+ might do away with the uncertainty associated with my URM bump.

What would you guys do in such a situation?

Yale Law wrote:Should I play the numbers game and include my undergraduate GPA and LSAT scores?

In an unscientific survey of employers participating in the Fall Interview Program, slightly more than half thought listing undergraduate GPAs on resumes was “somewhat useful,” a third thought it was “very important,” and the rest thought it was “irrelevant.” Given this information, you may wish to include your GPA on your resume if it is outstanding or if you need it to counter any irregularities on your YLS transcript. In that same survey, the vast majority of employers thought listing LSAT scores was “irrelevant,” a small minority thought it was “somewhat useful,” and no one thought it was “very important.” Given this feedback from employers, you may wish to include an outstanding LSAT score on your resume as a 1L, but probably should not include it by your second year at Yale.

Very informative. But I wonder if the respondents answers might be conditioned on the fact that they are interviewing Yalies. I would be interested to see data for OCIs at a broader swath of the T14. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the answers were similar.

Our OCS flat out told us this was a douchey move. UG GPA is fine, though, apparently. I simply listed my Latin honors and left it at that.

Also implying that law firms aren't made up of douches who enjoy hiring their own kind? tsk tsk

It will definitely come in to play, think about all potential douchey bragging situations that could arise.

Are you kidding me?

It's an ADMISSIONS test. It is only supposed to predict how well you do in law school. Your LSAT score will only affect your future job prospects insofar as it affects the school that accepts you.

In short...no one cares but the ad-comms.

As a fellow reverse-splitter with similar stats and similar aspirations, I can say that T6 is a real possibility. I got into one within four weeks of submitting.

People who like to brag about standardized test scores are usually (a) liars or (b) douches. If you are (a), then you don't need to retake; you can just tell everyone that you got a 178. If you are (b) but not (a), then I suggest a retake. But if you are neither (a) nor (b), then I wouldn't bother. As others have pointed out, your LSAT score will have no effect on your life after you've been admitted to law school.

By reversesplitter do you mean being below median on one metric and above on the other? And which school did you gain acceptance to?

Splitter: High LSAT, low GPA.

Reverse splitter: Low LSAT, high GPA.

Though you'd only be a "reverse splitter" for HYS, at every other school your LSAT is in the school's target range and you're not a reverse splitter anymore.

You aren't trying hard enough, or are trying on all the wrong women.

If you rocked law school, I doubt your LSAT score would matter that much anyway.

If you're median pwnt...well, who knows. I don't think it will make or break you, but maybe a sweet score would distinguish you from similar applicants.

I'm your numbers twin...already into H and S. My only concern is not getting the merit scholarships for other T10s that I might have gotten with an LSAT above a 170.
