Gah! Maybe I'll just do awesome at some lesser school and try to transfer. I'm so bitter though.

I'm sure it is of little consequence now, but at least you found out relatively early and can move on and look at other schools to which you've applied more seriously. It is even early enough where you could apply to more schools if you'd like. Because most #1 schools are reaches or at least not locks for applicants, the applicants are often in the bottom of app pools and their apps are held late in the cycle. Students can be strung along by dream schools and never get anything more than the rejection letter you got, but three months from now. You were fortunate enough to have the ea option, and now you'll have time to move on and time to make a clear decision.
