what happens to the info you provide to law schools?

If you go to NYU, then NYU keeps your application and statements as records for when you take the bar. OK, but what about all the other schools you applied to? Do they share that info as well?
It's just a weird situation because some schools need to know my entire grade school misconduct history and others are cool with knowing you're not a criminal.
LSAC sees everything I transmit anyway. Are they under any confidentiality agreement?
