What is the etiquette on contacting admissions offices?!?!

So I've heard that contacting admissions offices and keeping them updated on yourself can sometimes maybe possibly help your chances. I'm borderline at my top choice (167, 3.63 at Vandy) and want to give myself extra help I can muster. It's been complete for about 2 months, so should I contact them at all? And if I should, how should I do it?

I made sure to limit myself to once a day maximum. You don't want to be 'that guy'.

If you have a legit question then call to ask but don't just call to ask if you are in. If you have something positive to add then do it in writing. For example, if your Fall GPA was 4.0 then write an email or letter.

@sckon: please say you're joking!

@op: I emailed a specific person in the admissions office at a school that became my first choice mid-way through the cycle. Other than that, just to let them know a change of address.

along the same lines, whenever you email the adcom offices, should it start with "Dear Admissions Committee" or "to whom it may concern" or what?

A simple "What up yall," will suffice.

find an email from a person in the admissions office ( you might have to look it up), and address the email to that person.
